A Child-Like Faith

A doctor in a small East Texas town was treating one of his patients, a little girl of 5 years old. He had treated her before, but that day was different. There was something spiritual in that office, she had a certain strength in her eyes, not seen by the doctor in past visits. She was missing her mother & wished she would come back home, the mother left the family after the little girl's birth. The doctor became greatly overwhelmed with sadness, you see, she was dying of an incurable disease. He retired to another room & began crying, so much so, that his coat was drenched from his tears & his eyes saddened from grief. People in the waiting room heard his crying & also started crying, some even falling on the floor, praying unto God for her. He cried unto God to heal her & said he would do anything for God, if he would heal her sickness. Returning unto the little girl, he found his nurse sitting in the corner, crying deeply into her hands. The little girl was not sitting on the table, she was standing, waiting for his return & asked him "why do you cry for me so, you know God loves little children & I will be alright. I will ask God, if I can look for you & mommy everyday" & she kissed him on his hand & hugged him. Friends, she knew she was going to die. Her faith was in God to care for her. On a rainy morning, three days later, the little girl was buried & as the doctor laid a single rose on her tiny casket, her words echoed unto him, to be faithful unto God & not to worry, for he would see her later. The people who were in the office came to the funeral & got saved, remembering the little girl's faith. The doctor, you see friends, was her father & dying of the same incurable disease. As he turned to leave the grave site, in the distance, a lonely umbrella was bowed, kneeling on the rain soaked earth, was the mother of this little girl, she too got saved.
